Working together

How we'd work together

Five steps, at a pace that suits your family. Meet in my office or by video, whichever is easier.

I work alone, so you'll talk to me at every step, not a different person each time. Grown children are welcome in every meeting, in the room or on the screen, as long as the parent whose plan it is wants them there. I'll always ask to speak with the parent alone for a few minutes, too; that's part of making sure the plan is theirs.

From a phone call to a signed plan

  1. 01

    Step 1: A twenty-minute call

You tell me what's happening. I tell you what I'd do first and what it's likely to cost.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A family meeting

About ninety minutes, at my office or by video. I bring a short worksheet; you bring questions.

  3. 03

Step 3: Drafts with a summary on top

Usually within two weeks. A one-page summary in plain English sits over the legal papers.

  4. 04

    Step 4: A signing

In my office with two witnesses and a notary, or at a parent's home or care facility if they can't travel.

  5. 05

Step 5: A letter for the family

Where the originals are, who to call, and a reminder each year to check nothing has changed.

Pick a time that suits you, or call and leave a message. I return calls the same day or the next morning.
